This state frustrates the crap out of me sometimes

Citing "lack of support in either chamber," State Rep. David Shepard has withdrawn his bill from consideration this year--the one which would allow sales of wine in grocery stores. The one which has galvanized thousands of people to action lately. The one which has people writing to their representatives and to editors of newspapers.

I wish I could find the quote from a Tennessee lawmaker who recently said (s)he had received more mail about this bill than anything else. Too angry to go find it right now.

I think many lawmakers, including the two to whom I wrote, were hedging their bets, waiting as long as possible before making a decision--to avoid pissing off constituents. I think this is an act of cowardice and I will remember this during the next election cycle.
